Housekeeping Supervisor

We’re looking for a friendly, organised and motivated Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team and help ensure our accommodation and housekeeping operation runs smoothly day to day.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in high standards, enjoys supporting and working alongside a team, and is confident taking responsibility when needed. You’ll help support our Housekeeping Lead in leading the team in maintaining our cleanliness and presentation standards, and work closely with the wider team to make sure our guests have a great experience whilst at Elmley.
You don’t need to have previous supervisory experience, but we’re looking for someone who is reliable, approachable, has great people skills and has a good eye for detail and is ready to take the next step in their housekeeping career.

The Role

As Housekeeping Supervisor, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the housekeeping team and help ensure our accommodation and communal areas are maintained to a consistently high standard.

Housekeeping & Accommodation

  • Oversee the day-to-day housekeeping operation and support the team throughout the shift.
  • Carry out regular checks of accommodation and communal areas to ensure our cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained.
  • Support the team with any areas that need additional attention, providing feedback in a positive and constructive way.
  • Help ensure our branding and presentation standards are consistently upheld.
  • Check accommodation inventories and report any missing or damaged items.
  • Help coordinate window cleaning around events and weddings.
  • Ensure housekeeping paperwork and relevant checks are completed and signed off.
  • Support the team in keeping housekeeping areas, equipment, laundry areas, trolleys and buggies clean, organised and well maintained.
  • Report any damages or missing items so that replacements can be arranged, including keys where required.
  • Help ensure the housekeeping team are appropriately presented and dressed in line with our staff handbook.

Team Support & Communication

  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to the housekeeping team with direction from our Housekeeping Lead.
  • Help the team work efficiently and positively towards completing the day's tasks.
  • Work closely with the other Housekeeping Supervisor and provide a clear handover when required.
  • Communicate with Front of House regarding room status, additional requirements and any relevant updates through our accommodation booking system.
  • Work alongside the Housekeeping Lead and General Manager and wider team to help resolve issues and keep the operation running smoothly.
  • Liaise with other departments, including Maintenance, when support is required.
  • Share feedback, ideas, issues and suggestions to help improve the housekeeping operation.
  • Support recruitment when required, including assisting with trial cleans.

Stock & Supplies

  • Help maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping stock and consumables.
  • Keep the relevant stock control information up to date.
  • Monitor housekeeping equipment and supplies and highlight any requirements for replenishment.
  • Support with accommodation inventories and laundry information as required.

Rota & Team Administration

  • Support with the preparation and ongoing adjustments of the housekeeping rota, in the absence of the Housekeeping Lead, in line with site requirements.
  • Help ensure contracted hours are appropriately scheduled.
  • Support the team with annual leave requests in line with our holiday policy.
  • Provide rota cover when the other supervisor is absent.
  • Ensure sickness and other relevant absences are reported appropriately through BrightHR.

Laundry

  • Help oversee the weekly collection and delivery of clean and dirty linen.
  • Assist with unpacking and allocating laundry when deliveries arrive.
  • Support with recording and submitting laundry figures.
  • Complete the relevant laundry/wash ticket information when laundry is sent away.
  • Check that quantities received match those sent and raise any discrepancies promptly.
  • Report any ongoing laundry issues so they can be addressed with the supplier.

Schedule:
  • The role is 20 hours each week, shifts are between 9.30am and 4pm
  • Key work days are Friday and Sundays inline with our business needs throughout the year
  • Due to our remote location you must drive and have access to your own vehicle
